_20170603_214559Squaring the big circle

This comes from the Signed With An Owl blog.

Makes 8 inch/ 21 cm square

The original pattern is written in US terms so I have changed it to UK below.

  • DK yarn – I’m using Stylecraft double knit special
  • 4mm hook

Abbreviations

  • htr: half treble crochet
  • tr: treble crochet
  • dtr; double treble crochet (one extra yarn round hook than a normal tr)

It can be enlarged by repeating Round 9. For example to make a 12 inch / 30 cm square I added another 4 rows.

A smaller 6 inch / 15 cm version can be made by following the first 3 rounds, and then going straight to round 9.  Because of the size of the circle it is not necessary to add a gradated round.
